CHESAPEAKE CITY, Md. (AP)- Authorities say they made 14 alcohol-related arrests during the annual Canal Day festival.
Lt. Bernard Chiominto of the Cecil County Sheriff's Office says some people became combative and officials used a Taser gun on three of them during and after the event Saturday in Chesapeake City.
Chiominto says Canal Day is predominantly a family-oriented festival. But he says the mood sometimes changes when food and merchandise vendors leave at 5 p.m. while the bars stay open for several more hours.
The U.S. Coast Guard handed out at least six citations for boating under the influence of alcohol.
Chesapeake City Town Commissioner Ron Francis says most of the incidents happened after the festival ended.
