Va. Awarded $31.8M for Homeland Security

RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- Gov. Bob McDonnell says Virginia has been awarded $31.8 million in federal funding for homeland security improvements.

McDonnell said Wednesday the funding will be used to train first responders, buy equipment and improve communications.

The funding also includes $1.69 million for the Hampton Roads area for coordination of regional planning for catastrophic events.
