BALTIMORE (AP)- A New Jersey doctor accused of ferrying patients to Maryland for late-term abortions says a complaint against him should be dismissed.
An attorney for Dr. Steven Brigham has filed a response to a complaint by the New Jersey Attorney General's office, which is seeking to have Brigham's license suspended or revoked.
Brigham denies the most serious charges against him, including that he was negligent and breached standards of care for several patients.
He acknowledges that some patients were treated in both New Jersey and Maryland, but he denies that he did anything illegal.
New Jersey authorities say Brigham was not licensed to perform abortions of fetuses older than 14 weeks. Maryland doesn't have the same restrictions on fetal age, but Brigham didn't have a license to practice in Maryland.
