DENTON, Md.- Maryland State Police say a collision between a motorcycle and a car in Caroline County left one person dead and another injured Tuesday night.
The accident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 404 and 16 (Hickman Road) in Caroline county.
Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Civic operated by 70-year-old Antoinette Kondrat Cox of Lewes, Del., was traveling eastbound on Route 404 and preparing to make a left turn onto Route 16. Meantime, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by 42-year-old Gregory Alan Hamilton of Queen Anne, Md., was traveling westbound on Route 404 at Route 6.
Troopers say that when Cox attempted to make a left turn onto Route 16, her car went directly into the path of Hamilton's motorcycle, which collided with Cox's car. Cox was transported by ambulance to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Del. where she was admitted for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Hamilton was also transported by ambulance to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the crash is continuing.
According to authorities, Hamilton was an EMS lieutenant with the Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company. He also served as a paramedic with the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company in Queen Anne's County.
