Man Killed in Laurel Area Crash

LAUREL, Del.- Delaware State Police say a Seaford man died in a single-vehicle crash that occurred early Wednesday east of Laurel.

The accident happened at around 1:35 a.m. Police say that 32-year-old Gregory D. Webb was driving a Chevrolet Lumina westbound on Shiloh Church Road (CR 74) just east of Scott Land Road (CR 434).

Investigators say that Webb was entering a curve in the roadway, when for an unknown reason his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane of travel and began to spin out of control.  Webb's car then crossed back across the westbound lane and eventually went off the north side of the roadway, according to police.
Investigators say that after exiting the north edge of the roadway, Webb's car struck a concrete culvert. Webb's car then rolled an undetermined number of times before colliding with a tree and catching fire, according to police.
Police say that as a result of the crash, Webb was thrown from his vehicle. He was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford where he was pronounced dead.
The roadway was closed for approximately five hours while the crash scene was being investigated. Police are still investigating the crash and are asking anyone with additional information about it to contact troopers at (302) 644-5020, ext. 119.
