Md. Woman Charged After Malnourished Horses Seized

CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP/WBOC)- The owner of a Centreville, Md., horse farm where 140 horses were found to be malnourished has been charged with animal cruelty.

The Queen Anne's County State's Attorney's Office has filed criminal charges against 66-year-old Marsha Parkinson, the owner of Canterbury Farms. Parkinson faces 35 animal cruelty charges of failure to provide adequate care for an animal.

The Polish Arabian horses were seized from her farm in late April. At least one had to be euthanized, and the rest have been placed in facilities across the state.

Parkinson's trial has been scheduled for July 27.
