CORDOVA, Md.- Authorities say 5,000 gallons of milk spilled out onto the roadway after a tractor-trailer overturned in Cordova early Tuesday morning.

Maryland State Police say that at around 5:37 a.m., troopers responded to the 13000 block of
Church Lane in Cordova to investigate a single-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that 43-year-old James P. Sanchez was traveling north on Church Lane when his tractor-trailer rolled over when the weight shifted in his trailer while on a sharp turn. It is believed that Sanchez may have been trapped in the vehicle for approximately one hour before he was discovered by a local farmer.

MSP Trooper 6 responded to airlift Sanchez to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he is listed in stable condition.

Easton Fire Chief Jamie McNeil, who was on the accident scene, said that as a result of what happened, 5,000 gallons of milk that Sanchez had picked up from nearby farmers earlier in the morning spilled out onto the roadway.

Church Lane at Cordova Skipton Road was closed while emergency crews cleaned up the spilled milk and uprighted the tractor-trailer.
