PARSONSBURG, Md.- A Salisbury couple is accused of stealing two major appliances and a flat-screen TV from a home and then selling them to a metal recycler for a combined total of $30.
William Brittingham, 47, and Zina B. Brittingham, 46, are each charged with theft between $1,000 and $10,000.
The arrests stemmed from an investigation into an early Friday, July 15 theft from a home under renovation on the 31000 block of Old Ocean City Road in Parsonsburg.
The investigating deputy learned that a refrigerator, a range and a flat screen television were left on the front porch when they were discovered missing just prior to the victim calling police.
During the deputy's investigation, a witness recounted seeing two people loading those items into the back of a truck and leaving with them. The witness managed to get the truck's registration plate information, which led the deputy to the suspects' home in Salisbury.
Police say the investigating deputy located the Brittinghams and concluded that they had, in fact, taken the items in question and sold them to a local metal recycler for $30.
Both suspects were arrested on the aforementioned charge and released on personal recognizance.
