Four-Vehicle Crash Injures 7 in Seaford

Posted:

SEAFORD, Del.- Authorities say a motorist ran a red light in Seaford, triggering a four-car accident that sent seven people to the hospital with injuries.

Delaware State Police say the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck failed to stop at the intersection of northbound U.S. Route 13 and eastbound Route 20, hitting another Chevrolet truck at around 3:46 p.m. Thursday. Police say the second truck then spun into another pickup truck stopped on westbound Route 20, pushing it into a Toyota Camry.

Seven people from the vehicles were taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford for treatment of back strains and bruises. None of the injuries are considering life-threatening, according to police.

The 34-year-old driver of the pickup who ran the red light, identified as 34-year-old Melinda S. Nichols of Greenwood, was charged with failure to stop at a red light. She was then released on her own recognizance.
