Police Probe Shootout in Del. Strip Club Parking Lot

Posted: Updated:

SMYRNA, Del - Authorities are searching for five suspects after an armed robbery ended with a shootout in the parking lot of the Fairways Inn bar and strip club in Smyrna early Saturday morning.

Delaware State Police say the 52-year-old victim was walking to his car and carrying the night's proceeds from the business when a male suspect fired a shot at him.

Police say the victim dropped the money while pulling his own gun and ran for cover behind several parked cars in the lot. They said the victim began shooting back at the male suspect.

It was then, police say,  that five other male suspects, all with hoods covering their heads, also began shooting at the victim. As this was occurring the first suspect picked up the money that the victim had dropped. All five suspects then fled on foot and were last seen running northbound on Route 13.

No one was injured in the gunfire.
