



CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College head women's rowing coach Dr. Mike Davenport has announced that rising seniors Kelsie Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and Kendall Mulligan (Southbury, CT/Westover School) and rising junior Rachel Benders (Cleveland Heights, OH/Beaumont School) will serve as the Shorewomen's captains during the 2011-12 academic year. All three also served as team captains in 2010-11.
Jensen has been the coxswain of the Shorewomen's first varsity eight since her sophomore year. She is a two-time member of the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Academic Honor Roll and a two-time College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete.
Mulligan, who sat stroke in the Shorewomen's first varsity eight last season, is a also a two-time member of the MARC Academic Honor Roll and a two-time CRCA National Scholar-Athlete.
Both Jensen and Mulligan were key members of the winning varsity eight in the Division II/III event at the 2011 Murphy Cup and in the Division III event at the 2011 Knecht Cup.
Benders earned a spot on the 2011 MARC Academic Honor Roll and was named a 2011 CRCA National Scholar-Athlete. She sat in the six seat of the winning second varsity eight at the 2011 MARC Championships.
The Shorewomen, who won their second MARC Championship in three years in 2011, are slated to open the fall portion of their schedule October 16th at the Occoquan Chase in Lorton, VA.
