4 Busted on Pot Charges in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office is crediting an observant deputy for the arrests of four people on drug charges.

Rebekah L. Spinella, 18; Patrick L. McGill, 22; Irving H. Jones, 28; and Dante L. Coles, 24, all of Salisbury, are each charged with possession of marijuana. Jones and Coles are additionally charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Police that at around 11:19 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, a deputy drove up on what he believed was a drug transaction in progress on the 700 block of Dennis Street in Salisbury. According to police, when the deputy got out of his patrol vehicle, two people who were standing alongside the open passenger window of a vehicle began walking away.

Investigators said the deputy detained the two people standing on the street- identified as Coles and Jones- along with the occupants of the vehicle- Spinella and McGill- after the deputy saw what he recognized as marijuana in plain view in the console of Spinella's vehicle. Police said the deputy ended up recovering marijuana packaged in several individual baggies from Jones and Coles, which was indicative of distribution.

All four suspects were arrested on the aforementioned charges. Spinella and McGill were released on their personal recognizance. Jones and Coles were ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of bonds of $10,000 and $15,000 respectively.
