Forget, White Selected As Volleyball Captains For 2011

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Washington College volleyball head coach Lacey Lister has named two captains for the 2011 season.  The duo of senior outside hitter Alyssa Forget (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) and sophomore setter Lauren White (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) will serve as captains for the Shorewomen this year.  Forget was a captain for the squad last year.

Forget, a two-time captain, netted 201 kills and 84 digs in 2010 and averaged 2.12 kills per set in 28 matches last season.  In 83 career matches, she has 634 kills, 315 digs, 29 service aces and 26 blocks.  She has averaged 2.26 kills and 1.12 digs per set in her three seasons at Washington.

White, a captain for the first time, was named the team's most valuable player award last year.  Last season, she had a team-high 734 assists (7.27 assists per set) and also recorded 276 digs, 48 service aces and 10 blocks.  She had 11 double-doubles, including five in a seven match stretch and earned conference co-player of the week on October 12,  2010. 

The Shorewomen open up the 2011 season tomorrow against Bridgewater and Pitt-Bradford at Gettysburg College's Battlefield Classic at 3:00 p.m and 7:00 p.m. respectively.
