MILFORD, Del.- Milford police this week arrested the owner of a convenience store after a 3-month investigation into the selling of illegal synthetic drugs.
Henidh Kanubhai, 27, of Delmar, Md., owns the Country Farm Store, but maybe not for much longer.
"We seized over 3,000 packets of K2 and approximately 40 packets of bath salts, also pornographic material and drug paraphernalia," said Sgt. Robert Shane Young of the Milford Police Department
Bath salts were banned in September by Delaware Gov. Jack Markell and there is pending legislation in the House that would permanently ban it in the state.
Kanubhai was charged with possession of a controlled, dangerous substance with intent to distribute, delivery on a controlled substance, sale of drug paraphernalia and possession of obscene material for sale or dissemination.
Jonathan Green and others who live in Milford said they are happy the bust was made and hope it is one of many more.
"It's a good start and hopefully, they'll keep cracking down more and more and making it harder for people to get those substances around here," Green said.
Young said his department hopes the store gets closed for good.
"The [Delaware[ Attorney General's Office may be pursuing an abatement hearing against the location to possibly shut down the business soon," Young said.
