Man in Coma After ATV Crash

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating an ATV accident in north Dover that left a 21-year-old man and a 3-year-old child injured Wednesday evening.

Police said that around 5:20 p.m., Jeremy T. Cook and a 3-year-old passenger, both of Dover, were traveling eastbound on Harriet Street east of Wayne Drive on an ATV. Authorities said the ATV came to a sudden stop, which caused it to spring forward. As a result, both Cook and the child fell backwards onto the pavement. Police said that neither occupant was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Cook was taken to Kent General Hospital for head trauma and remains hospitalized in a coma. The 3-year-old was treated for minor injuries and released.

Troopers are still investigating the accident.
