POCOMOKE CITY, Md.- Pocomoke City police have arrested two suspects in connection with a weekend shooting that left one person injured.
Seventeen-year-olds Roderick Rashad Savage and Devin Treye Wessells, both from Parksley, Va., are each charged as adults with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
The arrests stemmed from an incident alleged to have occurred Saturday, Jan. 28. According to police, a birthday party was being held for a Pocomoke City resident inside of the YMCA when a fight broke out. Investigators said that while driving away from the fight, the aforementioned suspects began firing shots at the crowd. Police said no one was injured during the shooting. However, one victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries related to the fight.
As a result of the investigation, Pocomoke City police, with the assistance of the Accomack County Sheriff's Office, took Savage into custody on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
On Thursday, Feb. 2, Pocomoke City police and the Accomack County Sheriff's Office arrested Wessells.
Both suspects are being held in the Norfolk (Va.) Detention Center without bond pending an extradition and preliminary hearing trial date.
Police said this case is still under investigation and more arrests are expected.
