Food Pantry Open to Help Seaford Families

Updated:

SEAFORD, Del.- A food pantry at West Seaford Elementary School is aimed at helping at-risk families with children in the Seaford School District.

The pantry, run by the Parent and Family Resource Center, is the result of a partnership between the Food Bank of Delaware and the district. Families who can prove financial need and who have a child in the district can access food and hygiene products.

Dena King works at the Parent and Family Resource Center, which opened this school year to increase parent and family involvement in children's education. King said the food pantry served 10 families since opening in January, but can help up to 80 families a month.

"Jobs are difficult, so the food pantry is a great resource for whoever can use it," King said. "We definitely want to do whatever we can to help our families."
