DENTON, Md. - Denton Police are investigating a serious assault that occurred early Saturday morning at a Royal Farm Store in Denton.
According to police, a Caroline County Sheriff's Deputy stopped a 2002 Mercury for having an expired registration at approximately 2 a.m. in the area of North
Caroline High School. Police say that during the course of the stop, the Deputy learned
that the occupants were on their way to the hospital.
Police say the passenger, identified as Tye Ensley, 32, of Denton, told the Deputy he had been stabbed and was going to the
hospital for that reason. At that point, the Deputy summoned EMS.
Police say through further interviews with Ensley, it was discovered he had been at the aforementioned Royal Farm Store at approximately 1 a.m. when an unknown black male approached him and demanded money.
According to police, Ensley refused to comply and was then stabbed in his left side torso area. Police say the suspect then fled
the area on foot, at which point Denton police were contacted.
EMS
then transported Ensley to PRMC in Salisbury for treatment. PRMC staff
determined that the wound was not life threatening and Ensley elected to
refuse further treatment at that time.
The
suspect is described as a clean-shaven black male wearing dark clothing. Anyone who may have information
