Update: O.C. Council Adopts Stricter Noise Ordinance

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md.- The Ocean City Town Council on Monday passed an ordinance that prohibits sound systems and other noise-producing devices from being audible beyond an area of 30 feet.

The ordinance also forbids storefront staff members from directing sound toward public beaches, the boardwalk and streets beyond 30 feet.

Ocean City police patrolling the boardwalk would be in charge of enforcement.

People who violate the ordinance could face a citation and fine. Repeat violators could even be arrested.
