OCEAN CITY, Md.- Ocean City police are asking the public's help in identifying a person of interest in the theft of an item up for grabs in a charity auction held to raise money for a baby injured in a crash.

Authorities said that on Jan. 28,  the Pour House Saloon on South Baltimore Avenue held a fundraiser benefit for 19-month-old Ava DelRicco, who was critically injured in a Dec. 16 crash on 142nd Street in Ocean City.

Approximately 200 hundred people attended the benefit. Authorities said that during the benefit a silent charity auction was held, during which time one of the items up for auction was stolen. The item was described as a large canvas, red and maroon 6-foot-tall Molson beer beach umbrella with a wood pole. The beach umbrella has an approximate retail value of $125, according to police.

Police said the Pour House Saloon video surveillance system recorded a person of interest, described as a white male with a goatee, wearing a dark T-shirt and white baseball cap, carrying the umbrella out of the business.

Investigators are asking anyone with any information about the identity of the male seen in the surveillance footage or who may have any information about the theft to contact Ocean City Police Department Pfc. John Spicer at (410) 520-5295.  You do not have to provide your name.
