DENTON, Md.- A road closure has some Denton residents concerned. Contractors building the Wal-Mart requested Legion Road be closed due to safety reasons.
For at least three months people in Denton will have to get around town without using Legion Road, starting as early as March. Sandy Neal lives off of Legion Road, she will be forced to drive farther just to get to work.
"I have to go the longer way around and the most inconvenience is that when I normally go to work I don't have to hit Route 404," said Neal.
Closing the road will make it easier and safer for trucks to maneuver at the site, but people in Denton say it is going to be a hassle.
"The people that live just beyond the private homes will have to go the other way to get out, which takes longer," said Marie Kuykendall of Ridgely.
Kenneth Murph has lived in Denton his whole life and is uncomfortable with change.
"It's going to be messed up. You're going to have to change your route or something. Something's going to have to give," said Murph.
Some Denton residents are excited about the Wal-Mart, and are willing to pay the price of driving through a detour.
"I am tickled to death about Wal-Mart," Neal said. "I am willing to be inconvenienced for that reason."
