SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities are investigating a Wednesday night fire that heavily damaged a Wicomico Board of Education building located at 900 Mt. Hermon Road in Salisbury.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said that at around 8:38 p.m., fire broke out at the 15-foot by 75-foot portable office building.

It took 20 firefighters from all three Salisbury fire stations approximately 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.

There were no reported injuries. The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the structure and another $25,000 in damage to its contents.

The fire's area of origin and cause are under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Salisbury Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office at (410) 713-3780.

Editor's note: WBOC initially reported the fire damaged a portable classroom. However, state fire investigators later clarified that the building housed offices.
