GEORGETOWN, Del.- Delaware State Police say two students had to be taken to the hospital after a truck sideswiped the school bus they were in Thursday morning near Georgetown.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m., as a school bus, operated by 47-year-old Ronald L. Brittingham of Millsboro, was traveling westbound on Wilson Hill Road east of Hunting Club Road. The bus was transporting seven students to Carver School.

Troopers said that meantime, a Dodge Ram, operated by 21-year-old Jacob B. Goins of Georgetown, was traveling eastbound on Wilson Hill Road when he lost control of his vehicle in a curve and sideswiped the left side of the school bus. Both drivers were able to safely bring their vehicles to a stop in the roadway after the impact, according to police.

A 17-year-old student and a 16-year-old student riding the bus were transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford as a precautionary measure due to non-life-threatening injuries.  Brittingham and Goins were not injured in the crash, according to police.

Goins was cited for careless driving.
