DELMAR, Md.- Authorities on Friday announced the arrests of a politically-active Delmar, Md. couple accused of sexually abusing two children.
Thomas John McGuire, 43, and his wife, Nicole Crystal McGuire, 28, were taken into custody Thursday by detectives with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office and child protective service investigators with the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center. The McGuires are each charged with one count of child abuse, two counts of child sex abuse, two counts of second-degree assault, one count of reckless endangerment, one count of second-degree sex offense, and one count of fourth-degree sex offense.
According to investigators, it is alleged that between June 1, 2010 and Aug. 28, 2011, the McGuires sexually abused a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. Police said the investigation is continuing in efforts to locate any additional victims.
Thomas and Nicole McGuire each recently ran unsuccessful campaigns for both mayor and town commissioner of Delmar, Md.
Following their arrests on the aforementioned charges, Thomas McGuire is being held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $300,000 bond. Nicole McGuire is being held in the WCDC in lieu of $200,000 bond.
