James Lewis MeagherSALISBURY, Md.- Police say a Salisbury man is behind bars for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl and possessing tens of thousands of images of child pornography on his computer.
On Thursday, Feb. 9, detectives with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office and child protective service investigators with the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center, took 63-year-old James Lewis Meagher into custody. He was charged with one count of second-degree rape, one count of child abuse and 27 counts of possession of child porn. He is being held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $750,000 secured bond.
According to investigators, detectives uncovered more than 100,000 images of child pornography from a computer owned by Meagher. Police also said that it is alleged that Meagher sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl. Detectives said they are attempting to locate children with whom Meagher has had contact.
