Salisbury, Md. – The Delmarva Shorebirds, class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are excited to announce the launch of a brand new campaign leading up to the home opener on April 12 designed to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters.  The Shorebirds will donate one dollar per new Facebook ‘Like' from now through April 11 to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The goal of the initiative is to donate a maximum of $1,400 to Big Brothers Big Sisters by growing the Shorebirds Facebook fan page to over 10,000 likes.

"Social media is a great avenue to support a great organization like Big Brothers Big Sisters," said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters.  "I want to encourage everyone to search for ‘Delmarva Shorebirds' on Facebook and help us reach our goal of donating up to $1,400!"

To ‘like' the Shorebirds on Facebook, search for our Facebook fan page, Delmarva Shorebirds, and click the ‘like' button at the top of the page.  The Delmarva Shorebirds Facebook page is a great way to stay up-to-date on the latest information regarding the team, upcoming promotions, scheduling information and more.

For over 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has helped children realize their potential and build their futures through the mentorship program.  Big Brothers Big Sisters carefully pairs children ("Littles") with screened volunteer mentors ("Bigs") and monitors and supports them in one-to-one mentoring matches throughout their course.  For more information about Big Brothers Big Sisters, visit www.bbbs.org.

The Delmarva Shorebirds have had a huge impact on the lives of children in our community."

The Shorebirds Facebook page currently stands at 8,617 ‘likes'.  For each additional ‘like', the team will donate $1 to Big Brothers Big Sisters with a maximum donation of $1,400 .
