SALISBURY, Md. - Valentine's Day can be a day of love, or lack thereof, frustration or bliss depending on who's celebrating it. Whether you hate it or love it, it's bound to happen.
Time magazine reported people are expected to spend around $126 for their significant other or loved ones. Even with a still shaky economy, spending is expected to be up 8.5 percent from last year. Many say that the day is about both males and females.
Derek Smith from Bridgeville said, "it's really more for the woman. It doesn't matter if I get anything but it's more important that I send flowers or give gifts to my wife."
The publication also says that around 72 million Valentine's cards (40 percent of all cards sold) are purchased by parents for their children. It also reports 220,000 wedding proposals happen on "V-Day" and that is 10 percent of all the marriage proposals in one year.
