SALISBURY, Md.- Police have arrested a Salisbury man accused of trying to rob three city businesses in a row on Monday night.
Corey Chandler Wolcott, 37, is charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, three counts of robbery, three counts attempted robbery, three counts of disorderly conduct, conceal dangerous weapon, and three counts of reckless endangerment.
Salisbury police said that at 8:02 p.m. Monday, officers responded to an attempted robbery that had just occurred at the Shell gas station on the 900 block of Snow Hill Road. Upon arrival, the suspect was nowhere to be seen. According to police, the officers learned that the suspect had entered the store and ordered an employee to give him money from the register. Police said that when the employee told the suspect that he was going to call 9-1-1, the suspect fled the scene. A description of the suspect was then broadcast.
Approximately four minutes later, officers responded to an attempted robbery at the Wendy's restaurant located on South Salisbury Boulevard. The officers learned that the suspect had fled just prior to their arrival. Officers said they learned that the suspect, who matched the description of the previous suspect, had entered the business and demanded money from an employee. Police said the suspect made a motion to his coat pocket that he was carrying a weapon, but one was never shown. The employee told the suspect that he needed to leave, at which time the employee fled from the restaurant in an unknown direction.
At 8:13 p.m., officers responded to another attempted robbery that occurred at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on South Salisbury Boulevard. As officers arrived on the scene, they were directed to the railroad tracks where the suspect was last seen fleeing southbound.
Officers observed the suspect running and chased after him on foot. The officers were able to take the suspect into custody at a business located a short distance away from the KFC. According to police, the suspect was found to be in possession of a knife.
Police said an investigation into the third and final attempted robbery revealed that the suspect, later identified as Wolcott, had entered the KFC and demanded money from an employee. The employee handed Wolcott a cup and told him to get a soda. The employee further told Wolcott that she would be with him after she had finished waiting on another customer. Wolcott then took the cup and ran out of the business, according to police.
Police said that following his arrest, Wolcott was identified as the suspect who attempted to rob the three businesses. He was booked on the aforementioned charges and turned over to the custody of Wicomico Central Booking.
No injuries were reported and no property was taken during any of the incidents, according to investigators.
