Alfredo Guzman
DOVER, Del.– Dover police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with last week's robbery of the Kmart jewelry department.
Police said that on Tuesday, Feb. 14, officers came into contact with 44-year-old Alfredo Guzman, who was on the 300 block of West Division Street attempting to sell jewelry. Officers said they recovered a bag that contained a large amount of jewelry with price tags still on the merchandise.
Guzman was taken into custody and authorities said the jewelry was later positively identified by Kmart employees as items taken during the robbery of the store on Monday, Feb. 6.
Guzman, who lives on Webbs Lane in Dover, was charged with first-degree robbery and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was ordered held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $100,000 cash bond.
Police said that during the robbery, Guzman approached the jewelry counter where he handed the cashier a pillowcase and demanded jewelry. According to police, Guzman opened his jacket and revealed a handgun in his waistband. He then ran out of the store with the merchandise.
