OCEAN CITY, Md.- Authorities are investigating a fire that broke out Friday morning in the Clarion Fontainebleau Resort Hotel on 100th Street in Ocean City.
Crews from the Ocean City and Bethany Beach fire departments responded to the fire shortly after 10 a.m., according to O.C.F.D. spokesman Ryan Whittington. He said that upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the ceiling and roof of unit 201 on the east side of the building. The fire was contained to that one unit, according to Whittington, who said crews gained access to the roof and ventilated the area over the fire and extinguished it.
The fire was placed under control at 11:20 a.m.
One person was taken to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Whittington said the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ocean City Fire Marshal's Office.
