RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware freshman guard Jarvis Threatt
earned his second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association
Co-Rookie of the Week honor on Monday after helping the Blue Hens
defeat Hofstra and Hampton as UD extended its winning streak to six
games.
Threatt, a native of Richmond, Va. (Highland Springs HS), averaged
17 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists during the Blue Hens'
victories last week.
Threatt scored a game-high 20 points in the 71-57 triumph over the
Pride on Tuesday, going 13 of 14 from the free throw line while
adding three assists and two steals. He scored eight points in the
last five minutes after the Pride had pulled within two, including a
6 of 6 performance from the charity stripe over the final 1:45 of
the game.
Threatt added 14 points during Saturday's 68-64 victory over
Hampton, hitting 7 of 8 foul shots to go with four rebounds, two
assists and two steals. He was again clutch from the charity stripe
late in the contest, hitting both free throw attempts with 1:03 on
the clock to extend a one-point UD advantage to three.
After reaching double figures in just three of the Blue Hens' first
17 games of the season, Threatt has scored in double digits in six
of the last 10 contests, averaging 14.0 points in that span. He
currently ranks fourth on Delaware with 8.8 points per game and is
shooting a team-best 81.7 percent from the free throw line,
including a 33 of 37 performance over the last three games.
Threatt shared CAA Co-Rookie of the Week honors with Drexel's Damion
Lee for the second consecutive week, while Kent Bazemore of Old
Dominion earned CAA Player of the Week accolades.
Threatt and the Blue Hens, whose six-game winning streak is the
program's longest since 2001, close out the regular season with a 7
p.m. road game at Towson on Wednesday and a 12 noon home contest
with Northeastern on Saturday.
