Breslin Repeats As First Team All-Centennial Selection

Posted:

LANCASTER, PA – Washington College senior guard Kevin Breslin (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) has been named First Team All-Centennial Conference for the second consecutive season for men's basketball in a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches.

This is the third straight year that Breslin has been earned all-conference as he garnered a spot on the second team in 2009-10.

He is the first Shoremen to make the first team two times since Greg Adams '01 went back-to-back in 2000 and 2001.  Breslin joins Adams as the only two Washington players to earn first team all-conference twice in men's basketball.

Breslin, one of five Shoreman to earn first team honors, currently ranks first on the team in eight categories.  The senior leads the squad in scoring at 18.1 points per game, rebounding at 4.5 boards per game, defensive rebounds at 2.79 a game, assists at 3.54 per game, steals at 1.92 per game, made 147 free throws, connected on 133 field goals and shot a team-best 82.1% from the free throw line.

In the conference, he presently is second in assists, third in scoring, steals, free throw percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.85-to-1), fifth in minutes played (33 minutes per game), 13th in offensive rebounds (1.67 per game) and 16th in defensive boards.

It is the third straight season that Washington has had a first team all-conference selection.  Prior to Breslin, Andrew Chambers '10 was a first team pick in 2010.  The Shoremen have had seven first team selections in the 19-year history of the conference.

Breslin joins Adams and Jonathan Webb '06 as the only Shoremen to earn all-conference recognition three times.  In addition to his two first team selections, Adams earned honorable mention in 1999.  Webb was a second team honoree in 2006 and an honorable mention pick in 2004 and 2005.

Fifth seeded Washington (13-12 overall and 9-9 in conference play) travels to fourth seeded Johns Hopkins on Wednesday night for a Centennial Conference First Round contest.  The game tips off at 7:00 p.m.
