Man Held After Officer is Threatened with Knife

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - New Castle police have arrested a man they say threatened an officer with a knife.

It happened about 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Casimir Drive, where police were called for a domestic dispute. Officers say 50-year-old Tyrone Matthews grabbed two relatives by the throat and damaged a door.

The News Journal of Wilmington (http://delonline.us/zN82DL) reports that police say when officers tried to take Matthews into custody, he grabbed a kitchen knife and held it above his head, refusing to obey commands to put the knife down.

Officer tackled Matthews and arrested him. He is charged with aggravated menacing and other offenses.
