UNDATED, Md. - Mild temperatures carried throughout the winter are bringing on an early onset of headaches for some sinus sufferers, who may additionally face allergic reactions now, too.
"Allergy season is early this year. The warm weather has brought out the tree pollens and we had pretty high tree pollen since as early as March 1," Dr. Curt Watkins of Peninsula Allergy & Asthma said.
Symptoms of a sinus infection include pressure and post-nasal drip, while allergies can cause itching and sneezing.
Treatments differ for allergies and sinus infections. Generally, antibiotics are recommended for sinus treatment, and antihistamines are prescribed for allergies.
If symptoms worsen, one should head to the doctor's office for more than over-the-counter medication.
