ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland senators want Gov. Martin O'Malley's administration to provide more information about relocating a housing department from Anne Arundel County to Prince George's County.
The Senate adopted an amendment to the budget on Wednesday that would withhold $500,000 from the Department of General Services until the Department of Housing and Community Development submits a report providing the additional information.
Senators say many questions remain about the cost efficiency of the move. Language included in the budget says the Department of General Services has been "unwilling" to provide many answers, given ongoing negotiations with a developer.
O'Malley announced the relocation of the housing department last year from its current state-owned building to a building that has not been built yet near the New Carrollton Metro Station.
