CNU Bans 2 Students after Suspected Meth Lab Found

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - An investigation of a suspected meth lab has led to two students being banned from Christopher Newport University.

Media outlets report that the university announced the action Tuesday. University officials didn't identify the students.

Authorities evacuated the Wilson residence hall last week after police found a substance in 1 of the rooms. University officials say the substance is being analyzed by a lab in Norfolk.

Newport News police spokesman Lou Thurston says a drug-detecting dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs in a car in a parking lot next to the dormitory. Police found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

No charges have been filed.
