Eagles Return to Va. Nest, Feed Their Young

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Two eagles have returned to their nest in Richmond after abandoning their chicks last week.

Eagle expert Bryan Watts says the eagles, called Virginia and James, returned to tend to their young on Monday. The two adults left their nest on Friday, prompting biologists to feed the two chicks in the parents' absence.

Virginia flew into the nest early Monday and fed the chicks a fish that had been left in the nest on Saturday. James flew into the nest with a fresh fish shortly afterward.

Richmond Eagle Cam ended Saturday as scientists dismantled the equipment. They are hopeful that the absence of a camera aimed at the nest will keep the adults in the nest tending their young.
