ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A local sailor has returned to Annapolis after a 10 month solo sail around the Americas.

Matt Rutherford's homecoming was Saturday according to the website of the charity he was sailing to raise money for.

Rutherford's sail of more than 25,000 miles was an effort to raise money for Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating, a sailing program for people with disabilities. The charity's executive director previously said Rutherford has raised some $70,000, but approximately $40,000 of that has gone to two emergency resupplies needed to keep the 31-year-old's quest alive.
