Baltimore Man Dead After Tractor-Trailer Crash

Posted:

NEWARK, Del.The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Baltimore truck driver after he failed to merge onto a ramp on Interstate 95.

Police said 36-year-old Leon Morris was driving the tractor and trailer on the ramp from I-95 southbound onto Del. Route 896 when he failed to complete the turn causing the tractor and trailer to sway to the left shoulder of the exit. Investigators said the tractor-trailer flipped on its side and collided with the guardrail.

While Morris had a seatbelt on during the time of the accident, he remained stuck inside the vehicle until emergency personnel arrived pronouncing him dead at the scene.

The ramp from I-95 to Del. Route 896 was closed for four hours as a result of the accident and investigation.

The accident remains under investigation.
