Wesley’s Kimmel Named to D3baseball.com Team of the Week

DOVER, Del. – Wesley College senior first basemen Geoff Kimmel has been named to the d3baseball.com Team of the Week.

The announcement came Tuesday, as Kimmel was apart of the eighth national Team of the Week along with fellow Capital Athletic Conference player senior catcher Tyler Bennett of the Salisbury Sea Gulls.

In three CAC postseason games this week, Kimmel batted .688, going 11-for-16 with a home run, three doubles, a triple and 9 RBIs. In his team's first game, he went 3-for-6 with two RBIs in 12-inning win at Frostburg in the first round of the CAC Tournament.

In Wesley's second game, the tournament shifted to Salisbury, Md. where Kimmel continued his success going 5-for-6 with a home run, double and five RBIs in a winning effort over York (Pa.). That game marked the second time Kimmel has had five hits in a game and the third time he knocked in 5 runs in a game. His double in the top of the ninth drove in two runs, but also tied him for the school record for career doubles with 39.

The Lawrenceville, N.J. native finished the week against No.3 Salisbury going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two doubles, breaking the school record. Kimmel leads the Wolverines with a .397 average, five home runs, 43 RBIs, hits with 56, doubles tallying 11, 3 triples, 88 total bases, a .624 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .476.

Kimmel and the rest of the 26-12 Wolverines take on Washington College and Arcadia in neutral-site non-conference games before finishing the CAC Tournament on Saturday, April 28. Wesley faces Stevenson University in the CAC Semifinals at 11a.m. and the winner of that game will face Salisbury at 2:30 p.m. The tournament was postponed on Sunday due to inclement weather.
