Sixth-Grader Escapes Child Abduction Attempt

Posted: Updated:

FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Federalsburg police are investigating an attempted child abduction of a middle school student.  Police say the boy was walking home from school when three males in a car approached him at the corner of University and West Central avenues. One of the males attempted to grab the student but he was able to escape.

According to Federalsburg Police Chief Donald Nagel, the three suspects were located late Monday night in Salsibury. He said the suspects are high school students believed to have been attempting a prank.

In light of this incident, Nagel is making some changes around town.

"I am changing some shifts, I am going to have some officers around," said Nagel. "It woke up the whole town because it can happen in small town Maryland."

When finding out the abduction attempt may have been a prank, Michelle Burris, a Federalsburg mother of two young children, said, "I am really surprised. I don't know who would be dumb enough but you never know nowadays...people are crazy."
