DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a 14-year-old boy accused of shooting another boy of the same age in Dover.
The suspect, identified as Kameron Scott of Dover, is charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by prohibited juvenile and aggravated menacing.
Police said the incident occurred early Thursday evening as troopers were called to the unit block of Park Lane in Dover for a report of a teen that had been shot. According to police, the investigation revealed that Scott had retrieved a handgun from a bedroom located within the house and brought it to the living room where he first pointed it at a 15-year-old Dover boy. Troopers said Scott later returned the gun to the bedroom before it was brought back out by another boy, who is also age 14 and from Dover.
Police said that when the 14-year-old ignored Scott's request to return the gun to the bedroom, Scott grabbed the gun, which fired a round into the 14-year-old's abdomen.
The 14-year-old victim was transported to Kent General Hospital by EMS where he underwent surgery for the gunshot wound and is currently listed in stable condition.
Scott was taken into custody at the scene and transported back to Troop 3 where he was arrested on the aforementioned charges. He is being held in the Stevenson House juvenile detention center in lieu of $28,000 secured bond.
According to police, detectives recovered the gun used in the shooting. Troopers said it is unknown what the relationship is between all the parties involved.
