MILFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police say an 18-year-old Harrington man is facing a slew of charges after attacking people and damaging several vehicles at a Milford motel.

Troopers said Unique D. Baynard of Harrington was arrested early Sunday and has been charged with third-degree assault, resisting arrest, offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, offensive touching, menacing, four counts of criminal mischief greater than $5,000 and four counts of criminal mischief greater than $1,000.

Police said that shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday, Baynard had been involved in a fight with unknown people at the Super 8 Motel on Bay Road, and then began damaging vehicles. They say he then banged on motel room doors and punched occupants when they opened up.

Police said Baynard fought with troopers as he was being taken into custody and managed to free himself and run toward U.S. Route 113. A trooper used a Taser to subdue him.

Troopers said that as Baynard was being assisted into the patrol car, he continued his violent outbursts by kicking an assisting officer numerous times. Once he was secured inside, police said he then damaged the patrol car by kicking the window out.

Authorities said that in all, Baynard damaged a total of eight cars.  He was eventually transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.  He was then arraigned on the aforementioned charges and ordered held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $7,600 secured bail.

Police said that one of the victims was injured in the confrontation with Baynard, but did not require immediate medical attention.
