School Bus Avoids Collision in Md., 14 Injured

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Hagerstown police say more than a dozen students suffered minor injuries when their school bus driver stopped suddenly to avoid a collision.

Sg.t Mark Renner says that the driver was heading north on North Locust Street when a vehicle ran a red light about 4:50 p.m. Monday. Renner says the driver applied the brakes, causing students to hit the seats in front of them.

He says 14 students were taken to Meritus Medical Center. Some complained of neck and nose pain.

Renner says there were 24 students on the bus from Eastern Elementary and Ruth Ann Monroe Primary schools.
