








FINCASTLE, Va. (AP)- A Botetourt County school bus driver is charged with reckless driving after the vehicle ran off the road and overturned. Thirteen students suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred at about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday on Zion Hill Road near Fincastle.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Bob Carpentieri tells media outlets that the driver, Mary Elizabeth Esque of Eagle Rock, was looking at a student in the rear-view mirror when the bus left the road.
Superintendent of Schools Tony Brads says Esque has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
The bus was carrying 39 students who attend Central Academy Middle School and James River High School. The injured students were taken to local hospitals in Roanoke and Salem.
