LAUREL, Del. (WBOC/AP)- A 28-year-old Laurel man has been brought back from Virginia to face charges in a May 18 motorcycle crash that killed a 78-year-old Delaware pedestrian.
Delaware State Police say Matthew A. Kondash was extradited Tuesday from Virginia. He had been arrested Saturday morning, May 19 while kayaking in Kiptopeke State Park in Cape Charles, Va.
Kondash has been formally charged with manslaughter, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, operating a vehicle with no insurance, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, displaying a fictitious registration plate, operating a motorcycle without a motorcycle license, violation of a no-passing zone and traveling at an unreasonable speed. He is being held in the Sussex Correctional Institution on $20,800 secured bond.
Police say Kondash was riding on a motorcycle when he hit Eleanor B. Pusey of Laurel as she crossed Sycamore Road in front of Epworth Christian School east of Laurel. Pusey, who worked as a longtime teacher's aide at the school, was pronounced dead at the scene.
