RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- The Virginia Film Office says the makers of Steven Spielberg's movie about Abraham Lincoln spent more than $32 million in the state.
Officials say that when the ripple effect of that spending is factored in, the economic impact for the Richmond and Petersburg area doubles to $64 million.
More than 400 Virginia crew members and staff worked on the film, not including about 1,200 actors and extras from the state. The movie, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field, is slated for a 2013 release.
