GREENBELT, Md. (AP)- A former member of an advisory committee on legislative redistricting in Maryland who pleaded guilty to failing to pay millions in employment taxes has been sentenced to spend two years in prison.

Richard Stewart pleaded guilty in December to failing to collect, truthfully account for and pay approximately $4 million in taxes between 2003 and 2008 for his company, Montgomery Mechanical Services. A judge sentenced him Friday in federal court in Greenbelt.

Stewart also stepped down from his position on the Maryland Stadium Authority after his guilty plea. Part of his plea agreement is paying restitution of $5.4 million.
