Md. Hospital's Memorial Honors Organ Donors

CHEVERLY, Md. (AP) - The Prince George's Hospital Center is honoring more than 50 people whose organs were donated after they died with a new memorial.

Family members placed copper leaves engraved with the donors' names on a sculpture tree in the center's intensive care unit Sunday. The memorial honors organ, eye, and tissue donations that were facilitated at the hospital.

More than 2,000 people in the Washington region are currently on a waiting list for a life-saving organ transplant. More than 114, 000 people are currently on the national organ transplant waiting list.
