WILMINGTON, Del. (AP)- The Delaware Symphony Orchestra is suspending its 2012-13 while it restructures its business plan and seeks new funding sources.
Lee Williamson, the orchestra's executive director, says the orchestra will spend the summer analyzing its operations. The orchestra's annual budget is $2 million.
As part of the restructuring, the orchestra's board has been reorganized.
Williamson says the symphony plans to seek money from people "who are interested in the future of orchestral music in Delaware."
Paul Head is a new symphony board member and chairman of the music department at the University of Delaware. He says the orchestra, which dates back to the early 20th century, has never gone dark before.
